These kids are the best. I am on the roster as a teacher’s helper in Sunday school, so sometimes I get to spend some time with the kids. It is a combined class of 4 years old to 12. I feel like I am in a one room school house! The church does not have a lot of material, but God is so faithful. Redeemer Baptist Church from Anderson, Indiana, sent some extra they had. What a blessing! The children loved the bookmarks and pictures of Bible stories.
Church Updates:
The Pastor: Nicolas has asked me to pray about starting a coffee bar at the church. This would be a great way to invite the people I meet on my walks to the church - Inviting them for coffee and conversation. Please pray with me for wisdom on this.
A Bible Institute in Paris has four of their students doing a small apprenticeship with the church. It has been fun getting to know them. We have been able to prepare some meals for them. The other day I made Sloppy Joes. They enjoyed that. We have been handing out flyers for the Easter Service. The church passes out about 6,000 in our city and in nearby towns. I spent the day walking with one of the students named Thomas. Thomas is from Cameroon and believes God is calling him to be a pastor. I enjoyed walking with him and talking to folks we met along the way. I told one lady to come because there was great coffee there! She laughed. The pastor is looking into a program with World Venture. This may provide me with a little financial aid. Pray for favor and also that I will meet all the qualifications.
Fun with the Dogs!
I meet so many interesting people while walking the dogs. The other day I came upon a lady named Francoise. I said "Bonjour cava?" (Hi, how are you?). She just started crying and sharing her concerns. I listened and then we prayed together. She said she was Catholic. I said, "That's okay, I am a Christian!". Then I gave her a big American hug!
I see my friend Sophie several times a week. We frequently walk at night. God is opening doors for me to share and pray for her. She is asking where I go to church. I have invited her to the Easter program. Pray for an open and willing heart.
Anne-Marie: I love Saturdays when I get to spend time with Anne-Marie. She is the friend that opened her home for me to stay for 7 weeks in December. We always have a great time praying and sharing. She also allows me to read the French Bible, which is very good practice for me.
My French is getting better. One day, there was a women's appreciation day at school. They had a big production to celebrate the day complete with snacks and a rose for everyone. It was very nice except I got in trouble for speaking Arabic - ha ha! I do have fun with my classmates.
One of my classmates ask me if I converted to Islam because I had spent so much time in Morocco. I told her no, that I believe in Jesus. She wasn't sure what to say. But now she wants to sit next to me and talk. I am praying for the opportunity to share HIS love for her.
Please pray for Joelle. I am currently renting a room in her home. It can be difficult at times because she smokes and drinks in the house. Please pray for wisdom as I witness to her. Her mother is a devoted Catholic and her daughter's best friend's father is a pastor, so she has had some exposure. God is checking my attitude with several situations here. That is a good thing. That can be a witness - to respond to Christ's way and not the world's ways.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT. I COULD NOT DO ANY OF THIS WITHOUT THE LOVE AND PRAYERS OF GOD'S PEOPLE.
